Album Cover for Volcanology by Brooklyn

www.myspace.com/aboutbrooklyn
Formerly a trio, four piece Brooklyn has become one of the major bands representing the rising Parisian rock scene. Somewhere between Beatle beautiful pop songs and the energy of raw indie rock, Brooklyn delivers an intense and positive live experience. There is a noise truculence to Brooklyn that constantly tempers the Beatles/Big Star power pop elements. And Singer/songwriter Ben Ellis is the only rock star although he couldn't make music without Jane Lane Bass, Db guitar/Backing vox and Leo Colson drums.

They have picked up international press in publications such as Rock & Folk, Crash, Vogue, Nylon, Guitarist Magazine, Dazed and Confused and The Times. Their live performance highlights have seen them supporting bands such as Razorlight, The Kooks and the Wombats. 2008 their debut album Clandestine will be available on all formats including a Limited white vinyl 7".

Nelson
Nelson are another band they are also of the French persuasion.

French band Nelson

Nelson are hailed as “the best French band to join the music scene in over 10 years”. Their music can be described as a cross between Joy Divison, The Rapture, and Animal Collective. Nelson promises explosive performances where aggressive guitars compete with delicate electronic sounds.

Formed at a audio/visual school in Paris in late 2004, the quartet began regularly playing gigs around the capital before settling down to record their first EP, Bangkok Riot released in early 2007. It was met with rave reviews and it didn’t take Nelson long before they retreated back into the studio to put together their first album. What adds to the overall power and allure of their music, not to mention their perfect handling of sound is how they carefully tinker with the arrangements without ever repressing their simplicity, a simplicity which cannot be overlooked! At times the group plays with the same passive aggression of an amplifier pushed to its max and then suddenly listeners experience chills as a keyboard is stroked ever so lightly. In effect, the very essence of these musicians haunts the electronic consonances which they use to construct a driving force that eventually plunges into out right obsession.

Similar to Animal Collective, the group preys upon our nerves as Thomas Pirot beats his drums akin to an epileptic metronome. New Order and Notwist can also be heard through the distinct yelling of Gregory Kowalski, followed by the murmuring of JB Devay or the droning of David Nichols. When the music finally stops spinning around in our heads, we aren’t quite sure how Nelson managed to take us on a musical journey straight. into their madness. That being said, it is not the least bit surprising to see the number of diehard fans increasing across France and England alike. Nelson will be on tour in September 2008 to promote their album "Revolving Doors".

Sourya

Sourya show us the many colours and textures they have in their pallet with Dawdle Walk

Sourya debut album Dawdle walk is an explosive statement of intent, which shows us the real eclectic mix of the bands diversities. Sourya music ranges from the Neo-disco, real anthem in the making “Stockholm 73” through to the Brian Wilson inspired “Anatomy Domine” as well as giving us songs like the beautifully arranged “Numero 1” which adds breadth to the depth of the Sourya repertoire. Produced by Grammy nominated producer Jean Paul Gonnod at Meudon studio nr Paris Dawdle walk has many colours and influences, the keen ear will be able to pick out a nod to Brian Eno and early Radiohead here and Happy Mondays and the Beach boys there.

Sourya in the woods

Formed in late 2006 having met at the infamous Shebeen in Paris Sourya talents did not go unnoticed and they were soon brought to the Attention of Universal publishing who were over whelmed by the freshness of the Sourya sound and the widescreen production techniques they adopted and were quick to offer them a deal. Autumn 2008 will see the scheduled release of the album out in the shops coupled with a tour to boot.

Sourya are Nono (drums), Rudy (bass), and Coo (syntheses programmer) and of course the ambiguous front man Sourya (lead vocals/guitar).
